about my story

My love of photography began as a child in Philadelphia. Our family did not own a camera and I saved up my allowance and bought one for myself when I was about 13. Most people waited for a special occasion to take pictures, but that wasn't important to me. I took pictures of everyday events because I wanted to remember how my family was as I was growing up. Mom doing the dishes, my sister riding her bike, things like that. My family thought my pictures were a waste, but I treasure them.

Fast forward to adulthood. While photography was always my hobby, being a nurse was my first career. Usually, I skip over that when I'm writing my bio. I just focus on telling people about how I evolved from being a hobbyist to a professional photographer. But recently I've been trying to pin down how to explain the difference between me and other photographers and I've come to realize that the same personality trait that made me become a nurse also makes me love photography. Down deep I'm a care-taker. I like helping people. As a wedding photographer, I want my clients to have the best day of their lives on their wedding day. I want to exceed their expectations by getting images they may not have even known they will want when they look back on their day.

Prior to the actual wedding, I do my best to get to know my client's likes and dislikes. The best way to do this is to do their engagement session. Engagement sessions are a ton of fun, and a way to know each other in a nonstressful atmosphere.  As time progresses and they are finalizing their plans I want them to know I am here to answer any questions they may have and to offer referrals for the different services they need. I collect the information from past weddings of who people used and if I know they did a great job I pass that name along. I offer to personally go through their timeline of the day with them to ensure they will be able to do what is important to them and not be frazzled trying to get it all in during their big day.

On the day of the wedding, I am careful not to be intrusive. I don't block the view of the parents and guests during the ceremony for longer than a second or two. I take my shot and get out of the way. I have top of the line cameras that work in low light so I don't have to keep flashing during a church ceremony. And I don't keep the bride and groom from enjoying their reception by saying "just one more shot, just one more ...." I don't like it when I see photographers do that. When the wedding is over I custom design an album, which my couple come over and edits with me, so they make sure to get in every image they want and approve the design before it goes to print.

After the wedding, I want my clients will return to me as other important events happen, not only by referring us to their friends and family but by using us as they get pregnant, have babies and build their families. I hope to leave a legacy of beautiful, fun and romantic images that will be cherished by families through their generations. When they go through their wedding album and relive their big day I want their memory of me to be that I helped to make the day great.
